Peer Review
Para1All MoMS editions have undergone rigorous peer review. Because most of the world experts
on mayoral pageantry are already part of this anthology, we have opted for collaborative
and open review of editions. Editions are reviewed first by the Coordinating Editors,
Mark Kaethler and Janelle Jenstad. They are then sent to another editor for a second review. Finally, each file in
the anthology is carefully copyedited, encoded, and proofed. The encoding process
is a form of micro-editing in which the Markup Editor confers with the Editor to ensure
that the TEI tagging truthfully represents the text, sources, and the editor’s position
on the text.
Para2In a few cases where tenure or other institutional obligations require an early-career
editor to proceed through a standard anonymous review process, we have lined up an
external reviewer in addition to a peer reviewer from the project team.
