Licensing
Intellectual copyright in LEMDOʼs documentation and LEMDO anthology pages is held
by Janelle Jenstad on behalf of the LEMDO team and the many people (both paid and
unpaid) who have contributed to the documentation pages. All files in this anthology
are licensed for reuse under a CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license, which means that they are freely downloadable without permission under the following
conditions: (1) credit must be given to LEMDO in any subsequent use of the files and/or
data; (2) derivatives must be shared under the same CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license; and (3)
commercial uses are not permitted without the knowledge and consent of LEMDO. This
license allows for pedagogical use of the documentation in the classroom. Indeed,
LEMDO hopes that the documentation will be useful for people learning and/or teaching
text encoding and textual editing.
Anthologies published by LEMDO may have stricter licensing conditions. Images that
have been shared by libraries, museums, and archives are published in LEMDO editions
and anthologies under the conditions required by the owner of the images. Performance
materials that have been created by theatre professionals are also subject to conditions
required by unions and professional organizations.
Always check the metadata for a digital page before using the content or underlying
XML. The metadata panel always ends with a licensing statement indicating what constitutes
fair use.
