<p xml:id="emdFBFB_video_scene04_p1">The SQM company found little to entertain themselves in this scene which presents the spectacle of <quote>England’s rich monarch</quote> generously hosting <quote><supplied>g</supplied>reat men of Europe</quote> and graciously welcoming Eleanor as suitor to his son. The company devised a stately pavanne with dance instructor <persName ref="pers:WINE1">Emily Winerock</persName> to open the scene and provide some sense of the visual spectacle associated with the original Queen’s Men (<ref type="bibl" target="bibl:MCMI1">McMillin and MacLean 125</ref>). <persName ref="pers:ALLI1">Don Allison</persName> (King Henry) also found some fun in the idea that he was aware that his son was doing more than sporting <quote>himself amongst <supplied>his</supplied> fallow deer</quote> (<ptr type="localCit" target="doc:emdFBFB_M#emdFBFB_M_anc_2083"/>). The <ref target="https://thequeensmen.ca/performance-research/gender-and-the-qm-2/">university stage</ref> proved challenging in this scene as awareness of the complex sight-lines made it difficult to compose compelling stage pictures to conjure a better sense of England’s grandeur.</p>
