We periodically release new static versions of this website as new material is created and peer-reviewed. The release is comprised of a complete and self-contained set of HTML files; these files have no dependencies on external code libraries or on a back-end server. The Endings <ref target="https://endings.uvic.ca/staticSearch/docs/howDoesItWork.html">

The EMEE release schedule allows us to publish entries as they are completed, add new scholarship and new documentary discoveries, and update our bibliography in a systematic way. Each static release has a version number. Major releases are indicated by a change to the whole number integer (1.0 to 2.0). Minor releases of content are indicated by a change to the point number (1.0 to 1.1). A letter can be added to indicate that the release is an alpha (a) or beta (b) release. The first EMEE release on the LEMDO platform is numbered 1.0a. Releases are described on this page in chronological order.</p></div>

This alpha release contains articles only from the Culture category, with releases for the Theatre and History categories to follow. This anthology builds on the work of <persName ref="pers:BEST1">Michael Best</persName>’s <ref target="https://internetshakespeare.uvic.ca/Library/SLT/index.html"><title level="m">Shakespeare’s Life and Times</title></ref> on the <title level="s"><ref target="https://internetshakespeare.uvic.ca/">Internet Shakespeare Editions</ref></title>. Many articles from that site have been fully revised, rewritten, and augmented, with new images and new references for each article. The majority of the articles are the result of EMEE’s pedagogical partnerships, in which undergraduate and graduate students worked under the direction of a professor to write or revise articles, which were then reviewed and edited by the project editor, <persName ref="pers:MCPH1">Kate McPherson</persName>.</p>
